Save the Date: Wilberforce celebrates the first 100 years of the Law of Property Act 1925

Thursday 1 May 2025
12.30pm - 6pm, followed by drinks and canapés,
The View at The Royal College of Surgeons

Wilberforce Chambers is delighted to announce a celebration of the first 100 years of the Law of Property Act 1925. Please save the date in your diaries and see below for further details.

A century after the legislation was passed, the Act remains of vital importance to today’s property lawyers. In an exciting programme of high-quality sessions, members of Wilberforce’s Property Team will discuss a range of topics such as:

  • When is time of the essence and when is it not? An analysis of Section 41 and its consequences
  • Can you EVER get your deposit back? Section 49, deposits, forfeiture and relief
  • With great power must also come great responsibility: the scope of mortgagees’ powers under Section 104.

The event will shed new light on parts of the Act and cover less well-trodden ground as well as equip attendees with practical advice and give everyone a chance to catch up with each other over some superb food and drink by Searcys.

Invitations including the full programme will be circulated in due course.

If you have any questions about this event, please contact seminars@wilberforce.co.uk.
