Jonathan Hilliard QC appointed as a Deputy High Court Judge

Chambers is delighted to announce that Jonathan Hilliard QC has been appointed as a Deputy High Court Judge. His appointment will take effect on 1st October 2021.

The appointment follows an open competition by the Judicial Appointments Commission. Although the appointment is to all three Divisions of the High Court, Jonathan will be assigned to hear cases in the Chancery Division. The prestigious role of Deputy High Court Judge is reserved for those who have the experience and expertise to deal with very complex cases which would otherwise be undertaken by High Court Judges. Jonathan will continue to practise full-time as a barrister at Wilberforce Chambers.

Jonathan is shortlisted for Chancery QC of the year by Chambers and Partners and is described in the latest edition as “A real driving force in the case”, “intellectually prodigious and always exceptionally well prepared” with “excellent advocacy”.
