We are delighted to announce that Wilberforce Chambers appears in three of The Lawyer’s Top 20 cases of 2022, identifying this year’s most talked about disputes:
The Executive Counsel to the Financial Reporting Council v KPMG, Peter Noel Meehan, Alistair Wright, Richard William Kitchen, Adam David Bennett, Pratik Paw, Stuart Peter and James Smith
Ian Croxford QC is acting for the second defendant, Mr Meehan, in this case, which focuses on KPMG’s claims of misconduct, being made by several of its former and current employees. The complaints regard the provision of allegedly false and misleading information in connection with the FRC’s inspections of two audits carried out by KPMG.
Vatche Manoukian v Société Générale Banque Liban
Bobby Friedman and Caspar Bartscherer act for the claimant, Vatche Manoukian, who is claiming the Lebanese branch of Société Générale is withholding funds from one of his accounts. This dispute has arisen in the context of the Lebanese banking crisis and the decision will be of very significant interest to the countless number of individuals who are currently unable to withdraw their funds from Lebanese banks.
Aurium Real Estate London Ultra Prime v Mishcon de Reya
Ian Croxford QC is acting for the respondent, Mishcon de Reya, in this case, which sees a Jersey-based property development company alleging breach of duty in relation to a proposed development project in central London, including the creation of properties on and around Bayswater Road.
