Wilberforce to join Pupillage Gateway
We are proud to announce that Wilberforce Chambers will be joining the Pupillage Gateway in 2019 for pupillage commencing October 2020.
Martin Hutchings QC, chair of the Wilberforce Pupillage Committee, said, “We are pleased to be joining the Pupillage Gateway from next year, as it will provide access to the widest range of talent, and the process is beneficial to the candidates themselves, saving time and effort for prospective pupils. It is a bold step to improve diversity in and access to the Commercial Chancery Bar. We hope other Chancery sets will follow where we have led.”
Wilberforce Chambers is at the forefront of efforts to improve access to the Bar. Its members work closely with the Sutton Trust, and chambers is a member of Inner Temple’s “PASS” scheme and participates in the Bar Placement Week. Its own pupillage application process is name, gender, school and university “blind”.
